Can I simply plug the system into a standard socket?
Answer
At present, plug-in solar systems in the UK should be installed in accordance with current UK electrical regulations. In many cases, this means the system should be connected via a dedicated circuit by a qualified electrician rather than simply plugged into a standard household socket.
The UK Government and industry bodies are currently reviewing the regulations for plug-in (balcony) solar systems, and future changes may make simple plug-and-play installation more widely permitted. We will update our guidance as official regulations evolve.
Do I need planning permission?
Answer
In most domestic situations, planning permission is not required. However, if you live in a listed building, conservation area or leasehold property, you should check with your local authority or property owner before installation.
Can I install a plug-in solar kit myself?
Answer
The solar panels and mounting system are designed for simple assembly. However, the kit should only be connected and certified by a qualified electrician.
Can I monitor my solar generation?
Answer
Yes. Every kit includes a smart microinverter with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, allowing you to monitor energy generation and system performance through a compatible smartphone app.
Is the inverter waterproof?
Answer
Yes. The supplied smart microinverter has an IP67 protection rating, making it suitable for outdoor installation when installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Can I use the electricity immediately?
Answer
Yes. Any electricity generated is used by appliances operating in your home before additional electricity is imported from the grid, helping reduce your energy bills.
